Appreciative Inquiry

Developed at Case Western Reserve University by Dr. David Cooperrider, Appreciative Inquiry (AI) is not a new program — it’s a new way of thinking. It is a positive revolution in the way organizations change. AI is based on the proven theories of positive psychology and strengths-based management. It is predicated on the belief that organizations and individuals move in the direction of the questions they ask; change occurs as soon as we start having positive, focused conversations.

AI is a whole system approach that results in quantum leaps of change. At the heart of Appreciative Inquiry is the search for the positive core of an organization and the collective discovery of a positive image of the future. The result is an organization that is energized, focused, and performs fateful acts every day that bring about a shared vision.

Beginning in late 2008, Compass Knowledge Group adopted AI principles and created its whole company AI Initiative to build our positive 2016 vision for our future and to develop our AI plan of action. The entire company is invited to collaborate on key projects related to our delivery of critical distance learning services designed to help us — get bigger, better, and faster in order to future-proof our company and our academic partners.
